For one night in October, Sydney’s premier Italian restaurant is going back to its roots. At Balla’s Good Food Month Hats Off Dinner, legendary Italian/Australian chef and Balla owner, Stefano Manfredi has designed a seven-course menu alongside Head Chef, Gabriele Taddeuci, inspired by the best Real Italian Street Food.
Diners will be transported to the bustling laneways of Sicily with veal ragu and fiordilatte arancini and traditional seafood fritters, frittelline di bianchetti before floating up to Venice with baccala mantecato, salted cod with grilled polenta. There’s also lamb skewers with ash cooked potato from Abruzzo and an indulgent chestnut pancake filled with sweet ricotta from Tuscany.
At just $95 per person, with a spritzer on arrival, the Real Italian Street Food night delivers the sort of authenticity that usually only comes after a long haul flight to Italy.
